The Biblical Leadership Show
A Practical Leadership Roadmap From 2 Peter
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Pressure doesn’t just test faith. It tests leadership. When standards slip, people get reactive, and fear starts driving decisions, what does a leader hold on to so the mission stays strong? We dig into 2 Peter with that exact question in mind, looking at Peter as a seasoned leader near the end of his life, writing with urgency and clarity because the next generation has to carry the baton without losing quality.
We walk through 2 Peter 1:3-8 and treat it like a practical leadership development plan: faith, goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, mutual affection, and love. We talk about what those traits look like in real workplaces and real families, not as slogans but as behaviors your team can actually observe. We also connect it to wisdom and teachability: wise leaders receive correction and stay open, while self-sufficient leaders resent feedback and harden over time.
Then we get tactical. Instead of trying to “fix everything” at once, we suggest focusing on one trait per quarter, inviting your team into the process, and building habits until they become part of your DNA. We also hit self-control through the lens of time management and distraction, including a simple boundary that protects deep work and keeps you from living in “other people’s problems” all day. And yes, we bring the dad jokes, plus an invite to send us your worst groaners for the New Year’s Eve dad-joke-only show.

Welcome And Podcast Mission
SPEAKER_00Great, Dr. Posey. How are you doing? I'm doing fantastic today. It's good to be in the studio with you again. For sure.
SPEAKER_02Man. We're just cruising along.
SPEAKER_00Cruising along. And uh we're in episode 134 today. Yeah, I know, right? That's all right. Here in a couple weeks, it'll literally be our third anniversary of being on our podcast. It's I mean, it's just coming around like wow. It's insane. It's fantastic. I've enjoyed every minute of it. Good times.
SPEAKER_02Yes. We've had some good times.
SPEAKER_00So thank you for joining us. This is the Biblical Leadership Show podcast. I am Dr. Dean Posey, and with me is my co-host, Tim Lansford. Tim Lansford. Yeah. Yeah. And um we're glad that you're here, especially if you're here for the first time. So let me just give you a little synopsis of what we're about and why we do this. And so we did start this podcast in uh 2023 in September. And um and so the but the last two years, which uh we just finished, uh, I mean, last week was our like our two-year working through the Bible. And so we have last two years we've been going through the Bible book by book. Uh today we're gonna talk about the book of Second Peter, but we started in Genesis two years ago, and it's not like a Bible study. What we do is go through each book. Sometimes it takes us a day to go through, you know, one one podcast to go through a book, sometimes it takes us five or six weeks to go through a book. Um, but we look at the book and we talk about the leadership principles that we can find in every book and how you can implement them in your daily life. Whether you're a you know a CEO of a Fortune 500 company, or this is just you being a parent and you're leading your family. Um, maybe you have a little mom and pop pizzeria. Um, or you would if so, call us. Yes, please. Or we're really into cinnamon rolls right now. Yeah, cinnamon roll thing right now. Um maybe you manage a bowling alley or something. But uh I think the first part of we need some max throwing places.
SPEAKER_02We need some max places.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, whatever. Um so but 1 Peter chapter one offers some amazing leadership principles, and so it's probably gonna take us two weeks at least to get through 2 Peter, and uh and then we'll get into 1 John. But today we're gonna talk about 2 Peter. Yes, uh now one thing about it, uh, and we normally do about a 35-minute podcast, and we dedicate a portion of those minutes to dad jokes just because we can. Yes,
Dad Jokes To Clear The Air
SPEAKER_00so you got anything to start us off?
SPEAKER_02Um, let's see. Um just a statement.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yes.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02To uh whoever stole my copy of Microsoft Word, or Microsoft Office, I will find you. I messed up the joke, right? Whoever stole my copy of Microsoft Office, I will find you. You have my word. Yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Okay, here's the one. What starts with a P ends with an E, and has a thousand letters. A post office. All right, I'll give you that. Okay. Oh. So what did the horse say when he fell? Just bringing back an old, old commercial from a restaurant. Help, I've fallen, I can't giddy up. Oh boy. Oh boy. No, it's not a restaurant, it's uh like uh first alert. I was thinking about the where's the beef.
SPEAKER_02Where's the beef?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's still a funny commercial. That is, those ladies were great.
SPEAKER_02Uh um, let's see.
SPEAKER_00You know, the other day my wife accused me of being immature. When the first time, and I just told her to get out of my fort.
SPEAKER_02Nice. I don't know. I we've talked about a lot of jobs and stuff that I've I've had on this show. Uh-huh. I don't know if I've ever told you that I used to work at a uh calendar factory, but I got fired because I took a couple days off.
SPEAKER_00Oh my goodness. Okay. Yeah, you know, did you hear about the the fact that there were two peanuts walking down a dark alley? Oh boy. And one got assaulted.
SPEAKER_02I knew where that one was going.
SPEAKER_00Go on, going, going.
SPEAKER_02Um, what do you got? One more.
SPEAKER_00Uh I've got a bunch more.
SPEAKER_02You've got hundreds of things.
SPEAKER_00Some of them are so bad, I don't even want to say it. They're groaners. Yeah, well, no, I I think I think I'm good now. We can just get on with the you know important stuff about our podcast.
SPEAKER_02Well, I mean, if if you want to. Do you know what a uh what uh mountain climber uh named his son? What's the favorite name? Uh mountain climber name his son.
SPEAKER_00Little Peak?
SPEAKER_02Cliff.
SPEAKER_00Cliff. Okay. What did the tree say to the wind? I'm not getting the comment. I don't know. Leave me alone. Oh boy. Okay, I think we're going downhill.
SPEAKER_02We might as well get on with the Bible. We should. We should. Okay. People
Setting 2 Peter In Context
SPEAKER_02are listening in the gym right now, going, we shouldn't. We shouldn't. Please move on.
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna turn you off. Okay, so um, first uh, we're at 2 Peter. We finished first Peter last week. Yes. Um same same guy, he's Apostle Peter. Uh, this was written toward the end of his life.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_00Um, and there was a lot going on at that time in Rome. Um, and uh the Roman Emperor uh they started persecuting Christians way back. I mean, like, you know, decades before this. And so it's not an uncommon thing for Peter to have dealt with uh persecution, talking to other Christians that were being persecuted.
SPEAKER_02And so would he have dealt with a lot in between these?
SPEAKER_00I think he always dealt with it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Now at the was there a was there a a time frame, has anybody identified between um the first and the second, you know, what what it was, maybe or anything?
SPEAKER_00Well, some scholars, yeah, you know, think that this one was written. Um many scholars believe that he was martyred and he was crucified upside down. Now that would be horrific in itself, but they feel that um his death occurred around 68 um AD. And so, you know, he was one of the original uh apostles of Jesus. And so we're thinking, okay, if it's 68, uh, Jesus was crucified around 27 to 30, so you got 50 years there. And then how old was Peter when he started? Well, he was a fisherman, so he could have been in his late teens, early twenties. So, you know, he could be uh, you know, in his early 60s, 60, you know, something like that. Um, it's hard to say um exactly when first Peter was written, um, but it had to be several years um later because we see a little bit more maturity in the writing. Um he uses a some different words that just express maturity. Some people think that uh their two books were not written by the same person because the Greek is a little different. Um I believe they're written by the same person. Um and so the um but I don't know if you can tell an exact date. Yeah, that's fine. The two books were written, you know. One early in his life, one later in his life. Okay.
SPEAKER_02Um and so that's kind of so he's had experiences really where I was trying to go, you know. So he's had some different leadership, some different trials and tribulations between between writing both.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and so we so what we see in the book of Acts when when Peter becomes a prominent uh leader of the church, is that he and it's it basically says is uh Peter went to the Jewish population to minister to them and share uh the message of Christ, and Paul went to the Gentile population to share the message of Christ. Um, and we see just because so much of the book after Acts chapter 9 is focusing on Paul, we see a lot more of the um of the persecution because that's what Paul experienced. We don't we see some in Peter because he was in prison and those kind of things, but we don't have an accurate uh record of that time of Peter's life like we have of Paul. So I'm assuming just because person uh Christians were persecuted, um, that uh he experienced that too, uh, maybe not as much as Paul. Um, but once he became a familiar, of more of a not a worldwide, but you know, more known throughout the the world at that time, I I'm sure he was right in the midst of it. And this letter is just encouraging people that during your suffering you still need to be faithful uh to Christ. And so um he um he he talks from his own experience. He's a lot more mature now, and uh he's got some great leadership principles that I believe um we can get to here, you know, right at the beginning of chapter
Legacy Leadership And Passing The Baton
SPEAKER_00one.
SPEAKER_02Right. So yeah, and I guess that's the sort of the setup, you know. He knew his death was approaching, so so there's urgency sort of behind the letter, you know, and and I think that uh he's essentially asking, you know, what what does a leader need to make sure um people know when uh he may not get another opportunity to teach them, you know, and I think it's sort of set up that he was really trying to um you know think of everything that he needs to leave as a legacy and and and and tell people to continue the the mission forward.
SPEAKER_00So yes, and so any leader when the leadership passes from one you know person to the next, a succession plan or one generation to the next, the person who's passing the baton never wants the quality to to go down. Right. Okay, you want it to go at least the same or better. And so that was, I think, one of Peter's main concerns in the midst of persecution. It's it's very easy for the quality of your faith uh to go down, or just think about a business, if you're having issues, whether it's a financial issue, quality control, what you know, well, whatever, supply line, whatever, it's very easy to start cutting corners to get by. And and and Peter was saying, no, we don't need to lessen our faith, we don't need to, you know, deny Christ just so we can, you know, get it by. Um, you need to stay strong. I'm staying strong. I I want to be the example for you. And as we pass on the faith to the next generation, we want to be sure that it continues to stay strong and not weak. Gotcha. And so here, I'm just gonna read um this uh first part of um of 2 Peter, starting with chapter one, verse 3, and we're gonna go through um verse 7, and then we're gonna just talk about um well, I'll just go through verse 8 because that's I think that's real important. And so um we'll just talk about this and then we'll focus on these characteristics uh maybe for the rest of the time this morning.
The Virtue List That Prevents Drift
SPEAKER_00So um we he says this his divine power, which means Christ, has given us everything we need for a life, for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these, he has given us his very great and precious promises. And we could talk a long time about what that means, but we won't today, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. For this reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness, and to goodness, knowledge, and to knowledge, self-control, and to self-control, perseverance, and to birth perseverance, godliness, and to godliness, brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. So let's just let's just stop right there because um you know the the thing that and this was our our pastor was talking about this on Sunday, um, and he during his preaching was talking about wisdom. And uh one of the um things that he was saying um was the difference between a wise person and an unwise person. And I took a picture of the slide on the screen um just because I thought it was so good and it applies directly to these things right here. And so um uh the wise, let's just say the wise leader uh receives wisdom, and the let's just say the unwise or the self-sufficient leader uh rejects wisdom. Um and the wise leader or the good leader uh accepts correction, where the non self-absorbed leader resents correction, um and the wise leader becomes teachable, uh, where the non-wise leader becomes hardened when trying to be corrected. So let's just throw those out and talk about what uh Peter says here in chapter one, verse five. He says, for this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness. And then he goes on and lists all of these different things, which are so amazing. Okay. So let's just talk about each one of these in turn. Uh we won't go into detail about them, but uh just think. Okay, let's just talk about the first one.
One Growth Trait Per Quarter
SPEAKER_00Goodness.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, what if as a leader, um, and we were talking about this on show prep before we started today? Uh what if you as a leader um took one of these qualities from 2 Peter, uh beginning with verse five, and said, Okay, how can I, as a leader, over the next quarter, increase the goodness that I'm showing to my people, to my team, to my customers, to my whatever. How can I do that? Um and and so that might be something that you need to be humble about and ask your team, okay, I want to work on my this sounds funny, team, but I want to work on being gooder, you know, better, better at being good, you know.
SPEAKER_02What my goodness meter.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, goodness meter. How can I, as my role here as the leader of this company, show more goodness to the employees, to you, to our customers. How do I do that? Let's let's just talk about that. Um now type A personalities, and I'm I'm assuming there's many of you out there, uh, and you know, in the studio here, there's two of us. So we understand when a type A personality wants to do all of these in one day or one week. Okay, how can I prove my goodness, my knowledge, my self-control? I want to get it all done before noon. Just check it off the box.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna say slow down, slow down and focus on one per quarter. It might be longer. It might because once you finish the first quarter of focusing on goodness, now that you know, goodness might be saying thank you, going on the factory floor and just getting to know the people, right? Writing a thank you note, um, uh giving a coupon for Starbucks. I mean, I don't know what that means, but for you, um, but it it just focus on how can I do that and just be getting a part of my DNA. Okay. Because then what you're thinking, oh, the next one is knowledge.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and just so you know, so you're following along, it's faith, goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, and then mutual affection, and then finish with love. Yes. Yeah. So we start out with faith. And one thing I want to say on on faith, you know, because we went to goodness, is um, you know, I I love this because it's sort of like a leadership development progression, right? Faith is the foundation. You know, faith is the foundation, and then it's sort of it's a roadmap to leadership, right? So you start with faith as your foundation, you go into the goodness, and then we're like we're saying we're going into the knowledge now.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but faith, you gotta have faith in your people. Um, you've got you want to have them have faith in you. How does that work? Okay. And and so sorry, I skipped that one because that's is the foundation. Yeah. And uh let's just talk about that a little bit because you want to be sure that your people, if you're gonna go through a difficult time, you know, whatever that means in your business or a great time, you want to be sure that there's trust and faith in not just you as a leader, but in your mission, in your product, in your outcome objectives, right? Right. And so the question is, how do you do that? I know one way, be totally transparent. You know, you just don't need to hide stuff or pretend something's not a problem. So any any comments on the faith part?
SPEAKER_02No, I mean that's one of the things that you everybody I think has to look where you're at on your journey, how much of the foundation that you have before you start moving forward, you know, and and start building on top of this, you know, this this is a uh um one of the things that sort of a question I I kick back is, you know, what's what's sort of the danger of leadership that we start believing when we believe that we don't need any development anymore, right? Because a lot of people have faith, they say they have faith, but sort of one of the the verses that you know uh the pastors I was uh listening to um online yesterday is you know, what is church? Is it just showing up and and putting your punch card into the the church thing and then leaving? You got credit for showing up, or is there something that you checking off the box? Checking off the box or is there something deeper in the faith that you need to work on and and go there? So I think that you have to have the base, and if your base isn't big enough, then you need to stop what you're doing, redo your base, increase your baith and and base, and that base is faith, and then start working from the redevelopment, rebuilding the house, you know?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so we let's go back to a couple of podcasts where the book of James talks about show me your faith, um, or your your faith without your works is dead. And so if you're gonna have faith in your people, it's gotta you can't just say it. You gotta have actions. Um, you know, that visible actions that people see that you have faith in them. And hopefully over time, that will translate into faith in you and trust. And if there's trust uh in an organization, uh you can go a long, long way. Sure. And so they just say, okay, let's go back with starting with faith. Um, you talk to your team. There's a lot of times if we try to do a self evaluation, how can I improve? My faith in my people. So they know I really trust them and you know, those kind of things. If you just do it by yourself and just have some thoughts on you drive into work one day, um and you don't talk to other people about that, uh chances are uh you're gonna have, let's just say, um, since we're talking about cinnamon rolls, you know, you might get one bite. One bite. If you talk to your team over, say uh a week or so of that, uh two weeks, and you really come up with a plan of action with other people's input, you can be a lot more effective.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_00A lot more effective. So then you just say, okay, I'm gonna work on that for uh three months or four months. Don't do it in a week, don't do it in a month. Um implement it so that it just becomes part of your DNA. So when you get to goodness, you're already practicing the faith. You don't stop practicing the faith to get to the goodness. This is not like, oh, I do one, now I can do the other and just forget what I've done before. No. And that's why I say you can't do this in a week or a month. You've got to do it over time, slowly, so it builds up your credibility, it builds up your own personal growth. So you're not just doing this for your other people, you're doing this for yourself to grow. And so you work on your goodness for three or four months. During the last part of that period of time, talking about faith or goodness, you start talking about the next one, knowledge.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00Okay, how can I improve my knowledge of what we're doing? How can I help other people in the company improve their knowledge of what we're doing? Do I need to go to a class on this? Do I need to send my team to a class on this? Uh, what's the strategy for investing in my people so that they have more knowledge? Um it could just be, you know, I was uh I'd never really learned Excel, okay? Because I had staff people that did that. But maybe someone needs to improve their uh, you know, whatever program. They just, you know, new software stuff comes out, they need this, or you know, new computer stuff comes out, or whatever. I was talking to um one of my relatives on the way in today, and uh he said he was getting a new phone today. And I said, Really? Is that for work? He said, No, this is a coolest phone. I won't say the brand, I won't, but you might know if you're listening. He said, I can have two accounts on my phone. I can have a personal account on my phone, and then I press a button, and it's the business account on my phone. So I can keep everything on my phone on one phone. I don't have to have a work phone and a personal phone. I can have one phone that does all of that. And he says, My my business phone has all my accounts, all my emails, all that kind of stuff on that part. I'm thinking, man, that has a lot of memory. But he said, I'm so excited. Yeah, but he's got to learn how to use it. So today he was getting it and setting it all up. But then he's gonna, it's gonna take him a while to transition to his thinking about getting used to that thing. So the question is, what's that for you? What's that for your people? Uh so you you spend several months focusing on that. Then you the same thing goes through.
Self-Control And Beating Distraction
SPEAKER_00Then you get to self-control. Okay. So you stop being in cinnamon roles. That's right. Oh, let's not talk about this. Yeah, let's not talk about that. And then perseverance. Yeah. And then godliness. And so, okay, so say you're not necessarily a religious person, but you still want to help. Okay, focus on integrity. You know, you think, I'm not into this God thing. Okay. Um, if you want to ever talk about it, please contact us. We're more than glad to have a conversation. But say you focus on integrity, um, and then kindness, different than goodness, kindness, and then love. How can I express that? And so this is like a two-year plan, at least, of personal growth that is not just about you, it really begins to help your company and your employees will just rise to the surface knowing if this is the plan, and then if you're brave enough, you can say you have a company of 50 or 100 employees. If if you start to say, how can we share this with a whole group so they know over the next three, four months, we're gonna work on our faith, or we're gonna work on our goodness, or we're gonna work on our self-control. How do we do that as a company? Oh my goodness. You get buy-in from all the people, you're gonna just your leadership uh in their eyes is just gonna skyrock. And that's awesome.
SPEAKER_02One thing I say is leadership maturity is often demonstrated not by what you can do, but by what you have learned not to do.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that's could you repeat that's really good?
SPEAKER_02Leadership maturity is often demonstrated not by what you can do, but what you have learned not to do.
SPEAKER_00Wow. Yeah, that's really powerful. Well, you know, yeah, of course. Consider the source. I have spoken. So no, I'm not sure. I think it's important. So and I've shared this at least once on this um podcast uh many months ago, that I learned one of my mentors when I was young, um, he would not take any phone calls in the morning till 11 o'clock. He he had a secretary or his personal cell phone, he wouldn't answer the phone until 11 o'clock because he said, I I I have a time that I want to return phone calls or do the business on the phone or the computer. Right now, I need to focus on my staff, I need to focus on my sermon, I need to focus on a project that we're doing at the church. So he'd have a specific time in the day before lunch and before going home that he would do his computer work and his phone calls. Uh, the rest of the time was dedicated to, you know, the ministry of the church. Not that phone calls and other stuff not, but you know, stuff that's right there on your desk. Yeah, distraction.
SPEAKER_02So that's what I say. Emails and and emails, especially, they're I call them OPP, other people's problems. So you're working along, you're working along and you get an email, so you stop what you're doing and you go solve their problem, but then you don't do your work. Then you eventually get back to your work and you hear that ding, and then you get back and solving other people's problems, and you never get your stuff done. So that's exactly what we teach in time management. Yeah. Is stop dealing with other people's problems, do it at a certain time. Other than that, focus on your stuff.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, that's really, really good. And so just think about that as self-control. When you get to that issue, that could be a really good thing. Put your phone down, you know. Uh, you might not have a secretary or assistant or anything to do that for you. Put your phone down, take the messages, and then before you go to lunch, 30 minutes before, call people back. It's so much easier, though. You'll be so much more productive in the day instead of being distracted. What a good point. It is. It's a very good point.
New Years Dad Joke Request
SPEAKER_00Wow.
SPEAKER_02Well, let's see. We make it what what would we do?
SPEAKER_00We might get down to verse nine.
SPEAKER_02Did we even make it that far?
SPEAKER_00I don't think we made it to verse eight.
SPEAKER_02We made it to eight. So all right. Well, that's that's a plus.
SPEAKER_00Um I think that's a just a good place to stop for today. You know?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'm looking at going in 30 minutes. You got less than five minutes to close the show out and do a dad joke, right?
SPEAKER_00Dad jokes. We got a bunch of dad jokes. Oh, yes.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, stay tuned for our New Year's Eve show. If you're not familiar with us, we do a 100% dad joke show on New Year's Eve just because we pre-record it and have a little fun. And uh so yeah, if you're if you want dad jokes and you like dad jokes, definitely tune into our which is coming up fast. It's coming up fast.
SPEAKER_00And I was just looking at the schedule of our calendar. And since today is episode 134, um, then on December the 22nd, which is just obviously a few days before Christmas, yes, will be episode 150. Nice. So our New Year's Eve show, it's gonna be all dad jokes, episode 151. Nice. So please send us your dad jokes and we will stockpile them because we're gonna need probably at least a hundred or more dad jokes on that day. Right, exactly. And we'll just have some fun. And if you attach your name to it, it'll say, Hey, this is from Cheryl in Indianapolis. This is the dad joke. Yeah, um, and send us the worst dad jokes you know, not just the bit good ones.
SPEAKER_02No, the worst groaners.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we have to have some real groaners, okay? This is from Gary from Miami, Florida. You know, just send it to us. We'd love to have you. Or we've got people from outside the United States.
SPEAKER_02We do.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so send us those. You know, this is from South Africa or this from Germany or Japan. Yes, just send it to us. We'd love to share that on our New Year's Eve show.
SPEAKER_02We can do some translation apps. Send it in languages. So all right, give us a couple of dad jokes and we'll let the fine people be good for doing it.
SPEAKER_00And so I don't know if any of you in Atlanta have ever gone to the varsity. If you live in Atlanta at any time, you've probably gone to the varsity. So when I was in school at Emory many years ago, they had a special room at the varsity just to cut onions because they sold so many onion rings, and they were delicious. But there was a room, it was all glass, you could see probably five or six ladies just cutting onions. That's all they did all day. That's how many onion rings they sold. So, you know, a lot of people cry when they cut an onion.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_00The trick is not to form an emotional bond.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_01Oh.
SPEAKER_02Oh, say how many apples grow on a tree?
SPEAKER_01All of them.
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_00There we go. Oh. Oh. Okay, so why did Cinderella fail at basketball? I don't know. Because she had a pumpkin for a coach.
SPEAKER_02I wouldn't have got that one. That was pretty good.
SPEAKER_00You can give that to your daughter. Yeah, exactly. Right.
SPEAKER_02And she liked that one.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_02Um, what do you call somebody with no body and a no nose? Nobody and no nose? With no body and no nose. Nobody? I don't know. Nobody knows.
SPEAKER_00Nobody knows. Okay, here's another Cinderella joke. Why did Cinderella get kicked off the soccer team?
SPEAKER_02Hmm, I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Because she ran away from the ball. Oh, I knew that one. Well, we've said this one, but why did the cookie go to the doctor?
SPEAKER_02I know this one.
SPEAKER_00Go for it. Because he felt crummy. Crummy. All right, one more. Um, yeah, did you hear that Arnold Schwarzenegger will be doing a movie about classic music. Classic music.
SPEAKER_02This is great. Arnold might like this one. Let's see how good it is. He'll be Bach. He'll be Bach. He'll be Bach. He'll be Bach. Not Mozart. He'll be Bach. Yeah, Bach. He'll be Bach. I like it. Oh. All right. Well, we'll let the fine people off.
SPEAKER_00I don't know. I think I've got a few.
SPEAKER_02You got one more?
SPEAKER_00I've only got about 700 more.
SPEAKER_02I know you got so many teachers.
SPEAKER_00I do. I have so many teams.
SPEAKER_02He takes prides and pride in his dead teacher.
SPEAKER_00I do. So, you know. Um. So, you know, the older I get.
The Whataburger Sign And Small Details
SPEAKER_00Oh, I was going to tell this thing that happened to me the other day.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah. Okay. That's right. Yeah, it is so embarrassing.
SPEAKER_00Story, story. But it talks about the importance of the small details. So, you know, I was going to work this into the beginning of the podcast to talk about the small details, like we talked about, like goodness and knowledge and self-control. Those might seem really small. It's like no big deal, but they're huge. Okay. So the other day, I was driving down. Um over the last week, our refrigerator went out. So, so um, yeah, the evaporator sprung a leak. It's just a big mess. Anyway, so we've had that refrigerator 18 years. So I had we'd done some research online. I was going to in the appliance store to actually look at the appliance. I just didn't want to buy it without looking at it and measuring it and all that kind of stuff. So I'm driving down this road here in Fort Worth to go to an appliance store. And on one of the corners, as I'm going down the street, right there at the light, is a Whataburger. Now, Whataburger is one of my favorite places.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I love Whataburger.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Next to the Whataburger, there was a chain link fence. Okay. And on that chain link fence, there was a sign right there in front of Whataburger that said, first month free. And I thought, I'm going to that Whataburger for a whole month, you know? I thought, first month free? What does that even mean? And um then I looked more closely because we were stopped at a red light and realized there's a storage unit right next to the Whataburger that I had never seen before. And I'm thinking, oh, it's the storage unit, it's not the Whataburger. No, it's not. But you know, just little details like that.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00So little details are very important. And that was uh embarrassing.
SPEAKER_02I'm glad I didn't, you know, pull in and pull in and go, where's my first buck free? Do I need to pay a car?
SPEAKER_00Do I yeah, whatever. That uh okay. What did the chip say when he saw the cheese stealing?
unknownI don't know.
SPEAKER_00Hey, that's nachos.
SPEAKER_02I was trying to think. I was like, it has to be something dealing, but I don't think something with nachos.
SPEAKER_00Here in Texas, we have nachos with jalapenos. Yes, we do. We do, and we really like our nachos.
SPEAKER_02Yes, we do.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Well, it's probably to shut it down for the day. We can. We only got through eight verses, but you know, they are important.
SPEAKER_02They are important. Yeah, we'll make it through. It might be another year and a half.
